Hello
everybody!
Here is an interesting selection of Mark and Milena's favourite beaches:
it's very important for us that you will not leave the island without having
seen them! Why?
So you will fall in love with Barbados even more!
1)
MIAMI BEACH
or Enterprise Beach: a beautiful beach, on the south-west coast,
where the sand is white and the sea
is calm with breathtaking colours. It has a big parking area, a
pic-nic area with a lot of trees and plenty shade, a life guard service and
showers. Many locals come to this beach, especially on Saturdays and Sundays. On
the west side of the beach, there is a lovely little bay where the sea is always
calm and not deep. We recommend a refreshing stop by "Mr
Delicious", where you can try local delicatessen like fish cakes,
rotis, sugar cakes and local drinks like mauby and coconut punch.
2)
SANDY BEACH
a wonderful long and wide beach, on the south-west coast, where the sand
is white and the sea is very calm and
crystal clear. Life guard service and parking area. There are often
organized beach-volley-ball games. It's worth paying a visit to the "Carib
Beach Bar", where they serve many snacks, like fantastic fried
calamari, and drinks.
3)
CARSLILE BAY
a wonderful bay, located south of Bridgetown, with a
long and white beach. The sea is calm
and very beautiful. It's very interesting to snorkel
over a small wreck, easily reachable
swimming from the beach; the wreck lays at the bottom of the sea where the water
is not too deep and it created a sort of artificial reef with many tropical fish.
It's easy to recognize the exact location of the wreck because you will sea a
circle of white buoys on the surface of the water that delimits the area.
4)
FOUL BAY
a beautiful white sandy beach, on
the south-east coast, never crowded during the week, more frequented by local
people during week ends. The sea here is not calm,
but the beauty of the beach will make you forget about it. If you decide to take
a swim, please be careful. There is a big pic-nic area with a lot of trees and a
car park. On this beach there are no snack bars, so it's better to carry at
least some water to drink.
5)
CRANE BEACH
this beautiful and popular beach, on the south-east coast, has been
chosen also from prince Andrew to build his
vacation villa. The sand here is white, but
the sea is quite rough. There are two sides
of the beach: the northern one, less crowded, and the southern one, below the
namesake hotel, where it's easyer to take a seabath. It's interesting to take a
walk to the northern end of this long beach, where there is the "bat's
cave": a very short and dark path goes through it and takes you
to the beach beyond the rocks. We also like to suggest a pinacolada by the Crane
Beach Hotel's bar, around 5:30 pm, when the beach turns into a pinkish colour.
The hotel is located on a cliff above the beach from where you can enjoy a
breathtaking view; to enter the hotel propriety you will have to pay a small fee
that will be deducted from your bar's bill, a little pricy but surely worthy.
6)
HARRISMITH
on the south-east coast, it has a beautiful
scenery, with its white sand, very high palm
trees and brilliant colors. The sea is rough
and the beach is never crowded. On the cliff over the beach there is a old
abandoned plantation house, where you can park your car. There are no bars close
by.
7)
BOTTOM BAY
on the south-east coast, it is maybe the most
loved beach among the visitors of Barbados, with white
sand, century-old palm trees and brilliant colors. It's a less wild
version of Harrismith, where it's easy to meet rastas who would climb one of
those high palms to pick a coconut for you or who would discuss with you about
philosophical topics. The sea is quite rough,
but the scenery of this wonderful bay will surely satisfy you. There are no bars
close by.
